Ghana striker set for Aston Villa exit

The Telegraph report that Ayew will leave Villa Park this summer, and has admirers in the Premier League - including West Ham United.

Jordan Ayew is set to leave Aston Villa this summer - and West Ham United are believed to have an interest, according to The Telegraph.

Ayew, 24, joined Villa from Lorient last summer having hit 13 goals in just 33 games for the Ligue 1 side last season, and followed his brother Andre Ayew - who joined Swansea City - in making a move to the Premier League.

Seen as the man who could replace Christian Benteke's goal following the Belgian's move from Villa to Liverpool, Ayew came in with high hopes, and has hit five goals in 21 appearances for Remi Garde's men - though whether he's lived up to expectations is another matter.

He has had some bright moments this season, and has possible done enough to earn an extended stay in the Premier League, even if Villa will surely be relegated to the Championship.

The Hammers are believed to be interested in signing a new striker this summer, despite manager Slaven Bilic having a strong rotation of forwards, including Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho, Enner Valencia and January signing Emmanuel Emenike.

Ayew has shown promise in England, and West Ham may well be willing to take a chance on him, but his recent actions at Upton Park would make any move from the Hammers a real surprise.

Ayew was sent off for Aston Villa as they lost 2-0 in East London last month, as he lashed out at left back Aaron Cresswell, which prompted Hammers co-chairman David Gold to take to Twitter and suggest Ayew's actions were 'complete madness'.
