What you didn't know about Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola

The Spanish coach has so far managed in three European countries and has managed to win seven league titles in the last 10 years.

Such an impeccable winning record gives him the edge over many of his contemporaries, but this is a man who always wants perfection.

Guardiola started as a footballer at Barcelona C in 1988, but he managed to gradually break into the senior side, where he became an integral member.

He also had stints with Brescia and Roma in the Serie A before hanging his boots to start a career in coaching.

But whiles Guardiola was a celebrated midfielder, it is coaching that would turn out to truly define him.

The former Spain international started was first handed the Barca B team to manage in the year 2007.

However, he quickly rose to become manager of the Catalan club in the 2008-09 season.

The 47-year-old guided Barcelona to a clean sweep of domestic and European trophies in his debut season, by winning an unprecedented six trophies.

For Guardiola, not even the treble is enough as he led the Blaugrana to success in the league, Copa del Rey, Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Guardiola won the league again in his second season, whiles also leading Barca to the Champions League the year after his history success.

He was, however, not to stay for long as he took a one-year hiatus, after which he elected to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

In Germany, Guardiola won everything there was to win domestically, with his shortfalls only coming in the Champions League.

In three years, he won the league thrice as well as other domestic trophies before departing to England to manage Manchester City.

Guardiola’s debut season in the Premier League didn’t go according to plan as City finished fourth and without any trophies.

However, his second season saw the side break every available records by romping to the tile in impressive fashion.

In addition, Man City won the Carabao Cup.
