Essien, a former player of English Premier League team Chelsea played for Panathinaikos last season. The Ghanaian midfielder’s playing time with the Greek club was limited with the former Real Madrid player also having to deal with some injuries.

Panathinaikos left out the Ghana international from their squad for next season and as part of his holidays ahead of the new season Essien visited Chelsea’s Cobham Training Centre.
Michael Essien met fellow Ghanaian Christian Atsu to have some fun with a table tennis game which the later won.
Essien wished Atsu well ahead of the new season posting on his Instagram page:

Christian Atsu joined English Premier League club Chelsea from Portuguese side FC Porto.
The player was sent on loan to Vitesse in the Netherlands league where he flourished. A loan spell at Everton was hampered by the lack of games with Chelsea sending him to AFC Bournemouth at the start of last seas.
Atsu struggled with injuries and could not get enough playing time. Chelsea cut short his loan spell at Bournemouth and sent him to Spanish club Malaga in the 2016 January transfer window.
Christain Atsu spent the rest of the season with Malaga before returning to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season.
