Australia kicked off today's action with a narrow win over Tunisia before Poland defeated Argentina's conquerors, Saudi Arabia. The evening games start with defending champions France taking on Denmark before the big one between Argentina and Mexico. It promises to be fun, and we are here to give you every information as the action starts.

16:42

We are just a few minutes away from the first match of the evening, but let us take a look at the starting lineup of both teams. France make three changes to the side that defeated Australia in their opening match, with Raphael Varane coming in for Ibrahima Konate, Jules  Kounde takes Benjamin Pavard's spot while Theo Hernandez replaces his injured brother Lucas Hernandez.

16:48

France XI: Lloris, Kounde, Varane, Upamecano, T Hernandez, Tchouameni, Rabiot, Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe, Giroud.

16:49

Meanwhile, Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand makes four changes to the side that drew 0-0 against Tunisia in their opener. Brentford's Mikkel Damsgaard, Victor Nelsson, Jasper Lindstrom and Andreas Cornelius come in.

Thomas Delaney has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament with a knee injury, while skipper Simon Kjaer, Andreas Skov Olsen and Kasper Dolberg drop out.

16:49

Denmark XI: Schmeichel, Kristensen, Andersen, Nelsson, Christensen, Maehle, Hojbjerg, Damsgaard, Eriksen, Lindstrom, Cornelius.

How both teams line-up
16:51

France started their campaign with a 4-1 win over Australia, although they had to come back from a goal down. Meanwhile, Denmark played a disappointing 0-0 draw against Tunisia in their opening game.

16:52

Should Les Bleus win this evening, they will be the first team to qualify for the round of 16. However, it will not be easy as Denmark know a loss mean that will have to beat Australia in their final group game to qualify

16:53

We are up and running at  Stadium 974, Qatar, which was built with containers.

17:01

Denmark dominating play in the early stages, and they have the first freekick of the game, but France clear.

17:03

Friendly reminder that Denmark have won the last two matches between these two.

17:05

Both teams have gone close but they have defended the danger very well. Still 0-0.

17:14

Yellow card for Andreas Christensen after he pulled down Kylian Mbappe as he chases a ball from Antoine Griezmann.

17:21

France have now settled into the game, but still no goals.

Just a reminder to let you know we are now old
17:31

Great work from Mbappe, who showed brilliant skill before finding Dembele with a good cross. However, the Barcelona's man effort was deflected into the hands of Schmeichel.

17:32

France come close again but Griezmann's shot was pushed way by Schmeichel's legs.

17:35

Another chance goes begging for France as his Mbappe blazes Dembele's ball over the bar. Although I'm not sure if it would have counted.

17:41

Three minutes of added time as Kounde goes into the book.

17:46

HT France 0-0 Denmark. Despite both teams creating a couple of half chances, it's goalless at Stadium 974, Qatar

17:50

2nd half. France 0-0 Denmark. We are underway again.

18:05

Denmakr made a change at half-time with Braithwaite coming on for Cornelius.

18:05

The second half has been a game of few chances, but France continue to look dangerous on the break with Mbappe. The PSG star along with Dembele have been France best players tonight,

18:18

Chance! Griezmann with a big opportunity to end his run of ten games without a goal, but he could only blaze the ball over after doing a great job of beating a Danish defender.

18:19

France 1-0. Well, I said it. If France are to get a goal tonight, it would come from Mbappe. The PSG man did brilliantly to finish home a cut back from Theo Hernandez. Mbappe started the move and finished it.

18:22

France are now just 30 minutes away from booking their spot in the round of 16. Can Denmark find a response?

18:22

France change. Immediately after the goal, Marcus Thuram comes on for Olivier Giroud.

18:24

Kylian Mbappe has now scored more World Cup goals (6) than Zinedine Zidane and Michel Platini (5).

18:28

France 1-1. Against the run of play, Andreas Christensen heads home a corner from Eriksen. Game on.

Christensen with Denmark's first shot on target, resulting in a goal.
18:31

Chance. Denmark almost took the lead, but Lloris denies Lundstrum from close range.

18:32

Change for Denmark. Dolberg comes on for Damsgard

18:33

Double change for France. Konate comes on for Varane while Coman replaces Dembele. Like for like change.

18:34

A wave of attacks from France ended with Rabiot ambitious overhead kick flying over the bar. The tempo of the game has went from 0 to 10.

18:41

Mathias Jensen (Denmark) comes on for Jesper Lindstrom.

18:45

France 2-1 Denmark. It's that man again. Mbappe bundles home a cross from Griezmann to give France the lead again.

18:46

It is Mbappe's seventh goal in the World Cup, putting him behind Just Fontaine and moving ahead of Thierry Henry on French all-time list.

18:48

He has now scored as many World Cup goals as Lionel Messi, and he is only 23. What a talent.

18:51

Six minutes of added time for Denmark to find an equaliser.

18:51

FT. France 2-1 Denmark. The holders are the first side to progress to the round of 16, courtesy of Kylian Mbappe's brace, As for Denmark, they face an early exit unless they beat Australia in their final group game. That's it for this game. Up next is Argentina's big game against Mexico.
