Everton forward posts defiant message following proposed FA sanctions

Everton winger Richarlison has taken to his personal Social media page to mock an FA ruling which went against him. After scoring the only goal of the game in a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea, a fan from the away section of the crowd threw a flare at the Brazilian, who went on to return the favour.

Richarlison has been in the eye following an incident during a match with Chelsea

The referee on the day Kevin Friend did not react, with many people expecting him to book the striker for the dangerous act which could have endangered the lives of many fans. Shortly after the match, the FA made their stance on the incident very clear, releasing a written warning condemning the rash reaction.

Speaking days after the incident Everton manager Frank lampard, who is usually brazen about his critiques of refereeing and post games sanctions chose to keep his thoughts to himself, and wait until the FA reveal their verdict.

“It’s being looked at by the police at the moment and we as a club are doing everything we can to communicate with them as well as we can. It’s an emotional game, isn’t it? My first job is to protect Everton Football Club for the players, for the club itself, and for the fans.

“I can’t talk about it. I’ve got to reply to the FA and at this point I can’t speak any more about it.” Lampard said.

While the coach chose to avoid controversy, those higher up in the club hierarchy came to their stars’ rescue, defending the action as nothing but a mistake. “We will look into the matter but, as far as we are concerned, Richarlison was attempting to throw it out of the ground,” an Everton spokesperson said as per The Guardian.

On Wednesday morning, a full month after the incident, the English FA slammed Brazil with a charge of breaking Premier League rules and the panel has given the Everton striker until June 8 to appeal this charge.

The statement read: “Richarlison de Andrade has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 following Everton FC’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea FC on Sunday 1 May 2022.

“It is alleged the forward’s conduct in the 46th minute of the fixture was improper. He has until Wednesday 8 June 2022 to provide a response”

Shortly after the announcement of the verdict, Richarlison then took to his official twitter page to post an edited picture of the incident with the blue hue of the lit flare particularly standing out.

While the forward is clearly displeased with the verdict, rather than lash out and face further sanctions, he has chosen to protest the decision through his personal platform.
