Super Eagles legend Victor Ikpeba has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the future of Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old forward has been linked with transfers away from Old Trafford all summer with clubs like Juventus, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain linked with the Ballon d'Or winner.

However, the former Real Madrid forward has returned to duty for the Premier League club recently featuring in a 4-0 defeat at Brentford.

In his opinion, Ikpeba believes that Ronaldo is keen to leave the Erik ten Hag-led team despite his exploits for Manchester United during the 2021/22 season under Ralf Rangnick.

The former Super Eagles forward said on SuperSport's Monday Night Football show as reported by allnigeriasoccer that Ronaldo does not want to be part of the Manchester United team anymore.

Ikpeba said: "You know I have been bashed by the Manchester United fans last season. Don't think Cristiano Ronaldo was a distraction at United.

"Yes he scored 18 league goals but he wants to go. The player doesn't want to be part of the team anymore."

Ronaldo scored a total of 24 goals for Manchester United in all competitions last season, having featured in 40 matches all season.
