Brighton's bid for FC Zurich striker Raphael Dwamena has been rejected, according to Sky sources.
Brighton boss, Chris Hughton, born of Ghanaian father remains interested in signing Dwamena from Zurich.
It is understood Brighton representatives met with the player on Wednesday night in a restaurant in Belgium to finalise the transfer, believed to be worth an initial £13.5m, potentially rising to £16m.
However, Sky Sports source has suggested that the bid has been rejected.
The 21-year-old Ghana joined the Swiss side this January from Austria Lustena and scored 12 goals in 18 games. He was the highest scoring Ghanaian in Europe last season, managing a total of 30 goals
