Why Ayew Will Have A Better Season In The Premiership

The brothers face debut season laden with expectation

Andre and Jordan Ayew

"Even if I can't compare myself to them, I want to play against them." There was never any doubt, the Ligue Un season began, and Jordan had his chance, nudging prolific striker Pierre Gignac to the bench and playing against his much heralded subject, Edinson Cavani.

It wasn't as glorious as Jordan would've hoped, rather his older Andre, scored and later gave away a penalty. 2-1 it ended in favour of PSG. 6 months after, the shooting star passed, and another wish was granted.

Under Sochaux's gold and navy blue the younger Ayew started again against the polished Parisiens wearing a familiar 'number 3' shirt. It ended one all, Cavani scored, and Thiago Silva own goal, well set up by a back flick from Jordan. On the counter, the brimming forward burst forth and teed teammate Bakambu, who was a touch away from the game's winner. Jordan shone.

There's something very Balotelli-esque about Jordan; the ability, the solid-symmetry in his structure, confidence and the 'unknown.' They both smile only when unveiled, they're both names vastly experienced.

If there's anyone ready to prove himself beyond an attention snatching surname, it should be Jordan. Before tender 23, he's played against Ibrahimovic, Muller, Beckham, even record goal scorer Klose, and he never seemed dazed.

Between Andre and Jordan, the former easily has the more reputable name. His debut for the Black Stars at CAN 2008, which Ghana hosted, leader of the Under 20s to continental and global glory in 2009, dragging AC Arles-Avignon to the Ligue Un and returning to Marseille to cement his hard earned starting place, from there, records unending for Dede. One of the two signed on a Bossman deal, departing almost to a hero's loss, while the other's 6million move was forced and nearly unfriendly. Why Ayew WILL have a better season.

Versatility is fast becoming a feature of the top players. Lahm, Messi, Rooney, any doubts? Maybe not. Over the years at Marseille, Andre played up front with Gignac, out wide with Valbuena and even in the middle next to Dimitri Payet. It's a feature of his game that WILL serve him well.

His first goal for Swansea for instance, barely a week ago does him no harm, he sped from the left side beat two defenders for pace, controlled well with his head and positioning, then slotted the ball home. Jordan's game is however much more direct, though he's played wide and as a number 10 at times, particularly for the national team. He has pace to burn and strength for share, all he needs is a good through ball, good delivery which he's destined to have from Grealish or Sinclair!

There's the little matter of adapting to a league. Madrid's secret weapon Di Maria had a torrid struggle in England, while Diego Costa loved every bit of the game. It's almost impossible to forecast the speed which either will adapt to the Premiership, especially since it's been their only other destination outside France at senior level. Andre is the more vocal one, media, ladies and sponsors maybe, will fancy him on their side, interviews freely granted, a frequenter on social media, and inspirational, as Swans captain Ashley Williams observed in a week! Jordan has carved a 'hoody' image for himself, hardly talks, in his own world (dressing included) and an obvious non challenge about him. Like Balotelli, or a bit like Welbeck, you're never too sure what to expect from Jordan.

Who will have the bigger shoes to fill? Andre, the most paid player at the club, or Jordan, the 'replacement' for Liverpool hired Benteke?

Tim Sheerwood let go off 10 players including Darren Bent, Andreas Weimman and Christian Benteke, and welcomed 7. If Villa's proposed move for Adebayor falls throgh that could do Villa's Ayew some good. With all of Swansea's main men: Gomis, Ki, Montero, Shelvy,Nathan Dyer remaining at the Liberty Stadium Andre's work is probably cut out for him.

Footbll is noting without goals! In 31 games Jordan managed a career best of 12, compared to Andre's 10 in 28. For the striker and forward respectively, that's a good omen. Andre will inspire, throw himself on the line and, make his toil count. In the big games last season, Swansea's 10 shone, scoring against Lille and Monaco, making Marseille the best attacking team in the division. Then there was the self assured Jordan, who netted against former employees Marseille home and away, Lyon, PSG, and Toulouse.

That's a big-kill archer. United and Arsenal ought to know the Jordan trouble when visting Villa Park before Decemeber. At age 23, the legend Abedi Pele was playing at Mulhouse FC, a team now in the fourth level of French football, while Andre scoared success at Marseille at the same age. It's time for Jordan to 'flow down' as his name depicts, from his talented zone to the Royal river at Villa Park and for Andre to make a higher name for his glowing self. Ghana's 6 foot mustard seed should have a flowing season.
