The announcement was made on Tuesday 2nd January 2020.

Many Ghanaians were not surprised because of the poor display by the Black Stars in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) under Kwesi Appiah’s watch.

Aside, the poor performance by the Black Stars, the general output by the team under the former Asare Kotoko skipper wasn’t the best as he couldn’t achieve a winning percentage of 50, which is the average pass mark, every Ghanaian expected of his coach.

His winning percentage dwindled when you compare his performance in his first term with the senior national football team to his second spell with the four-times champions of Africa.

James Kwesi Appiah in his first stint took charge of the team from April 2012 to September 2014 and his second spell it was from April 2017 to December 2019.
