As a result, the Ghana Premier League remains suspended, but for the foreign-based players, it has had very little effect on them.

Although not many Ghanaian players currently play in Europe’s top leagues, the majority are still trying their best wherever they are.

In the last 12 months, we have often highlighted the best performing Ghanaian players, but now it’s time to zoom into some of the best goals scored by players from the country.

So, as we draw the year to a close, Pulse Sports chronicles the top five goals scored by Ghanaian players in 2018:

5. Jordan Ayew vs Wolves

Jordan Ayew may be struggling currently but in January he scored one of his best career goals during an FA Cup game between Swansea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The striker took the ball on the edge of the box and dribbled through to sea of bodies, before calmly slotting home.

Jordan dribbled past as many as six Wolves player, in what looked like a Diego Maradona-esque goal.

4. Kevin-Prince Boateng vs Sudtirol

Kevin-Prince Boateng has been a revelation since joining Serie A side Sassuolo. The 31-year-old has scored a lot of goals for the club this year, but there is one that stands out.

During a pre-season game against lower-tier side Sudtirol, the Ghanaian scored a wonder goal from inside the penalty box.

Boateng tapped onto a floating ball and cheekily back-heeled the ball into the back of the net on the blind side of the goalkeeper and defenders.

3. Majeed Ashimeru vs LASK

On-loan Wolfsberger AC star Majeed Ashimeru also scored one of the best goals by any Ghanaian in 2018.

The attacker is noted for his amazing passing technique, but in a game against LASK in the Austrian league he flipped the scripts with a wonderful solo goal.

Ashimeru showed great strength and speed to shake off his opponent before rounding the goalkeeper to score.

2. Emmanuel Boateng vs Barcelona

One of the brightest prospects that emerged from Ghana in the year is Levante’s Emmanuel Boateng.

The striker put up a memorable performance during last season’s clash against Barcelona, where he scored a sensational hat-trick.

However, it was his second goal that caught the attention of many people, as he dribbled past Nelson Semedo and Ter Stegen to score.

1. Thomas Partey vs Athletico Bilbao

Arguably Ghana’s biggest export at the moment, Thomas Partey has had a very eventful year in 2018.

The midfielder starred for Atletico Madrid as the club won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

In terms of goals, Partey rarely scores, but against Athletic Bilbao he scored a complete thunderbolt from 35-yards out.
