Hello and welcome to our UEFA Champions League of Chelsea vs RB Salzburg

This week, we would see teams play their fifth-round matches. For some, it would be the end of the road, for others, their fate will still be hanging by a thread.

Okay, let's take a look at how both teams will be lining up this evening

This is how Graham Potter lines up the Blues tonight

The Austrian Champions have opted to start this way tonight.

RB Salzburg are very much in the running to top this Champions League group and a win against top-of-the-table Chelsea would put them in pole position heading into the last game week.

Graham Potter's team currently tops this Champions League group, but only by a point. The Blues know for sure that a win here would see them clinch first place, having played out a 1-1 draw in their last meeting.

This evening's Champions League clash will kick-off at 5:45pm.

Around The Grounds

Elsewhere, at 5:45 pm, Sevilla welcomes FC Copenhagen to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in a bottom-of-the-table clash. We would be bringing you updates on what happens in Seville as well.

Despite concerns over Raheem Sterling's position for Chelsea under Graham Potter, the Blues manager has still opted to start the winger as a wingback alongside Christian Pulisic.

“He will be playing wide. We need to have as dangerous a width as we can against a team that defends quite narrow. You need to use width against them." Potter says.

Salzburg coach Matthias Jeissle
Salzburg coach Matthias Jeissle

Salzburg coach, Matthias Jaissle, opted to start Bernardo and Luka Sucic after their draw with Sturm Graz over the weekend.

Meanwhile, star forward Benjamin Sesko starts from the bench again as Noah Okafor and Junior Adamu lead the attack.

We're barely three minutes away from kick-off but you can sense some skepticism among Chelsea fans on social media about Potter's tactics. Trust the Process they said?

Both teams have finally stepped onto the pitch with the iconic Champions League anthem echoing all around the Red Bull Arena. The Legends have it, that the UCL anthem was crafted from angelic voices beneath the pacific.

KICK OFF!! And we're underway at the Red Bull Arena.

From Left to Right, It's the hosts in their Grey-coloured jerseys, while the boys in Blue play from Right to Left.

Chelsea nearly coming close to opening the scoring after a weak back-pass from Salzburg defender Bernardo.

Kai Havertz (Chelsea) was able to latch on to the loose pass but clattered into the on-rushing Salzburg goalkeeper Philipp Köhn

7' Play is stopped by referee Sandro Scharer for a foul by Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) after a heavy tackle.

9' First corner of the match goes to Salzburg but the resulting header from Bernardo was dealt with by the Blues' defense

11' The hosts are awarded another corner, but still, fail to make out anything from it.

12' It seems Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic have now switched flanks

12' It's been quite a nervy start to the game in Salzburg, but the hosts have looked pretty decent over the opening 10 minutes

16' Luka Sucic (Salzburg) tries an effort from the edge of the area, but he skies the ball over the top.

18' Salzburg have been excellent with their high-pressing so far and this game. You could sense the opener in this encounter is not too far away.

20' Chelsea has 68% possession compared to Salzburg's 32%, but the visitors are yet to have a single attempt in the opening quarter of the game.

24' GOAL! Mateo Kovacic!

24' The Blues have finally broken the deadlock with their very first shot on target after a brilliant effort from their Croatian midfielder. Salzburg 0- Chelsea 1.

25' Conor Gallagher (Chelsea) takes a shot from the edge of the box, to try and quickly double the visitor's lead but it's not a threat for the goalkeeper as his effort is blocked by a defender. The ball is out of play and Chelsea will have a chance to score from a corner.

27' Just looking at that Kovacic's effort again. A Brilliant strike from nowhere to ease the Blues' earlier frustrations.

31' Half an hour gone in Salzburg, with Chelsea 1-0 ahead thanks to that superb Kovacic first-time screamer.

32' Big chance for Aubameyang to grab Chelsea's second, But Phillipp Kohn denies him.

35' Noah Okafor (Salzburg) produces a good strike that sails to the middle of the goal, but his low effort ends up in Kepa's gloves.

36' Kai Havertz (Chelsea) misses another opportunity as he heads a precise cross towards the middle of the goal. His effort, however, is blocked by Philipp Kohn, who pulls off a comfortable save

40' CHANCE FOR SALZBURG! Maurits Kjaergaard finds himself unmarked in a promising position after receiving a cross on the edge of the box, but his attempt sails a whisker wide of the left post.

41' Salzburg fighting hard to find a response before the break

43' Referee Sandro Scharer has been lenient so far, with the tackles flying in, left, right, and center from the hosts.

There will be 1 minute of added time in the first half with Chelsea looking in control heading into the break.

HALF TIME! At the Red Bull Arena, It's Chelsea who hold a 1-0 advantage over Salzburg courtesy of that Kovacic beauty.

Elsewhere in the Champions League at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, It's half-time between Sevilla and FC Copenhagen with neither side able to open the scoring in the first 45.

HT' Chelsea are flying at half-time in Salzburg. The Blues finished the half with 76% of possession compared to Salzburg's 24%. And after a rocky start, Graham Potter's men boast nearly twice as many attempts on goal than the hosts. Will they finish the job in the second period?

46' BACK FOR THE SECOND HALF! No changes at halftime for either team with Chelsea still leading Salzburg by 1-0.

49' GOAL FOR SALZBURG! Would you believe it?!

49' Junior Adamu (Salzburg) slips the ball past the goalkeeper after latching on to a cross by Maximilian Wober just barely 2 minutes after a VAR check for handball by Chelsea's goalscorer Kovacic. It's Salzburg 1 Chelsea 1!! Interesting.

51' Things are about to get really interesting as it's now a matter of who wants it more between the two sides.

Did you know? Chukwubuike Junior Adamu, the goalscorer for Salzburg was actually born in Kano State, Nigeria. But he represents the Austria National Team. #MadeInNaija

Chukwubuike Junior Adamu levelled the scoring for Salzburg

61' Salzburg look to compound the Blues' misery and get the winner as Benjamin Sesko comes on for Luka Sučić.

63' Noah Okafor (Salzburg) finds space on the edge of the box, but his shot is well wide of the Chelsea goalpost.

64' Havertz scores another screamer for Chelsea from 20 yards out, which goes in off the crossbar to restore the visitors' lead. It's Salzburg 1 Chelsea 2.

Here's how some Chelsea fans have been reacting to Havertz's screamer on social media:

67' Salzburg looks to quickly respond as substitute Benjamin Sesko, finds himself in space on the edge of the box and smashes a glorious looking effort towards the bottom right corner, but Kepa Arrizabalaga thwarts his effort with a two-handed save. It's still Salzburg 1 Chelsea 2.

68' A dangerous looking corner kick from Maurits Kjaergaard is cleared to safety by the Blues' defence. The ball goes out of play and Salzburg have been awarded a corner kick.

69' Nicolas Seiwald (Salzburg) whips in a cross from the corner, but Kepa Arrizabalaga is well-positioned and punches the ball away.

71' Play is interrupted briefly after an injury scare for Chelsea's in-form shot stopper Kepa

72' He looks okay to continue as the match resumes. Chelsea fans breathing a huge sigh of relief that they won't be forced into prayer and fasting for the time being.

75' SUBSTITUTION Chelsea! A double change from Graham Potter sees Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang make way for Armando Broja in a like-for-like change, while Christian Pulisic goes off for Cesar Azpilicueta as the visitors look to close up shop.

87' Into the closing stages in Salzburg as Chelsea still remain in the lead, unless of course, they decide to switch off at the death. Wouldn't put it past them anwyay. Lol!

88' SUBSTITUTION! Chelsea make two final changes with Hakim Ziyech replacing Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount replacing Raheem Sterling

90+2' Kepa Arizzabalaga is booked for Chelsea following a foul incident earlier.

90+3' We are three minutes away from the 6 minutes added in stoppage time with Chelsea set to record another victory in the Champions League

90+5' Jorginho (Chelsea) unleashes a shot from the edge of the box, but it goes straight at Philipp Kohn.

90+7' FULL TIME as referee Sandro Scharer decides that he has enough as it finishes Salzburg 1 Chelsea 2

Elsewhere in the other early kick-off in the Champions League, Sevilla ended up defeating FC Copenhagen 3-0, courtesy of second half strikes from Youssef En-Nesyri in the 61st minute, Isco in the 80th minute and Gonzalo Montiel in the 92nd minute.

UCL: Should Borussia Dortmund fail to win Manchester City tonight, the Spanish cub could still be a slim chance of reaching the CL knockout. But for now, all that is certain after the win against Copenhagen is a spot at the knock-out stages of the Europa League, for which they have been known to excel in.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, it's another night of drama in the UEFA Champions League tonight with 6 matches currently on all around Europe and I'll be giving you updates from various match centres.

PSG 4-1 Maccabi Haifa

Celtic 1-0 Shaktar Donetsk

Dinamo Zagreb 0-1 AC Milan

Benfica 3-1 Juventus

RB Leipzig 2-1 Real Madrid

SECOND HALF KICKS OFF! Let's hope for more goals as it was in the first.

48' Manchester City are already through to the Round of 16, regardless of the outcome against Borussia Dortmund. It's still goalless after the break. Will Erling Haaland score against his former team once more?

49' GOAL! AC MILAN: Rafael Leo doubles the visitor's advantage after a brilliant individual effort. It's now Dinamo Zagreb 0 AC Milan 2.

50' GOAL!! BENFICA: Alejandro Grimaldo shows great vision to find Rafa Silva with a cheeky pass inside the box, and his first-time shot is precise and sails into the left side of the goal. Benfica now lead 4-1 against Juventus.

55' Perhaps a thrashing like this could finally get Massimiliano Allegri the sack....or maybe not. But Benfica have been so impressive in Europe this season. And yes, they've progressed to the knockout stages of the UCL marring any shock comeback from Juve. The score remains 4-1

58' GOAL!! SHAKHTAR: Mykhailo Mudryk receives the ball after a swift counterattack. Still with some work to do, he weaves his way through the defence to score a wonderful goal from mid-range to level matters against Celtic. It's now Celtic 1 Shakhtar Donetsk 1 . Can they come back to defeat the Scottish giants?

58' PENALTY MISS! MANCHESTER CITY: The Premier League champions had a chance to finally break the deadlock, only for Riyad Mahrez to miss his spot-kick. Still 0-0 between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund. Should Mahrez continue to be Man City's penalty taker? I leave that to you to decide.

59' GOAL!! AC MILAN: Olivier Giroud scores a penalty to stretch Milan's lead to 3-0 against Dinamo Zagreb.

67' GOAL!! PSG: It's a goal-fest tonight in Paris as Shon Goldberg accidentally puts a pass from one of the attacking players into his own net. A contest truly settled a long time ago sees PSG stretch their lead to 6-2 against Maccabi Haifa.

77' GOAL!! JUVENTUS: Samuel Iling puts a cross into the box and finds Arkadiusz Milik latches on to it and strikes the ball into the bottom right corner. He pulls a goal back for Juventus against Benfica.

79' GOAL!! JUVENTUS: Uh-oh...Benfica are getting complacent here as Juventus have scored two goals in 2 minutes. Weston McKennie was in the right place at the right time to pounce on the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifle the ball home. It's now Benfica 4 Juventus 3. Will Allegri get his comeback?

84' GOAL!! PSG: The hosts continue with the onslaught as second-half substitute Carlos Soler, gets on the scoresheet after another assist for Lionel Messi. The scores is now PSG 7 Maccabi Haifa 2. A comprehensive thrashing won't even do enough justice to describing this scoreline.

81' GOAL!! RB LEIPZIG: Mohamed Simakan finds Timo Werner who simply steers it home from close range. It's now RB Leipzig 3 Real Madrid 1. I'm not sure Don Carlo would care though, given that the Los Blancos have already qualified to the knockout stages.
