Zaha's goal not enough to send Manchester United to Europa Conference League

Ivory Coast International Wilfried Zaha was a thorn in the flesh of Manchester United defenders for the duration of the game.

Manchester United have avoided the Europa Conference League despite ending the Premier League campaign in defeat at Selhurst Park.

Former United winger, Wilfred Zaha, was in an imperious for as he came back to haunt his former club following a 1-0 win for Crystal Palace.

Zaha netted the only goal of the game in the first half, capitalising on a bizarre back pass from Bruno Fernandes to shoot past David de Gea from just outside the box to put Palace ahead.

The goal means the 27-year-old finished with 14 goals and an assist for the Eagles, while Ghana star Jordan Ayew was an unused substitute in the game.

Meanwhile, a poor Manchester United side have finished in the Europa League spot despite the defeat at Palace.

United underwhelmed once again in their final game if thr season with new manager, Erik Ten Hag, watching at Selhurst Park.

Zaha scored the only goal of the game to bring an end to Ralf Rangnick's reign as the Red Devils looked in danger of dropping into the Conference League.

However, at the Amex Stadium, Brighton and Hove Albion came from a goal down to beat West Ham United 3-1, a result that ensured Manchester United finished sixth on the log to book the final Europa League spot.

David Moyes and his Hammers dropped to seventh and will play in the Europa Conference League next season.
