G6 continues today: Kotoko vs Chelsea, Hearts vs Medeama

The Porcupine Warriors and the Phobians have tough fixtures at hand in the G6 tournament

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will begin their G6 campaign by taking on one of their toughest opponents in the 2014-15 Ghana Premier League, Berekum Chelsea.

The Berekum lads became the first non-Kumasi based side after Akotex in the 1970’s to thrash Asante Kotoko 3-0 in Kumasi, when they handed the Porcupine Warriors by the same margin of scoreline last season.

The Porcupine Warriors although failed to win any major competition, they seem to have rediscovered their form in the pre-season, winning the SWAG Cup and also beat Jagodina 5-0 in their 80th anniversary game last weekend.

Berekum Chelsea on the other hand shared the honours with Ashanti Gold when they drew 0-0 on Thursday.

The time for the game has been rescheduled to 1:30 pm instead of 4:00pm to avoid the troubles of power failure when the game travels into the evening to allow the second game in the G6 tournament between Hearts of Oak and Medeama to be played at 3:45pm.

Hearts of Oak will on the same venue today (Friday) will face the test of Medeama. The Tarkwa based side have always been a tough customer for the ‘Continental Club Masters’, eliminating them from the FA Cup competition last season and drew both the home and away league games in the league.

Hearts of Oak started the G6 competition yesterday, holding Aduana Stars to a goalless draw, while Medeama will have their first game for the tournament today.
