Sol Campbell, Stephen Appiah launch 2016 Peace match

The skipper of the Black Stars and the Arsenal legend were at the State Banquet Hall to help launch the 2016 Peace Match.

Sol Campbell, Stephen Appiah and hosts of other dignitaries like Prof Emmanuel Asante, chairman of the National Peace Council, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, the Youth and Sports minister, George Akwesi Afriyie, GFA Vice Chairman were part of the high ranking guests seated at the high table to see the 2016 Peace Match launched at the State Banquet Hall on Monday.

The Peace match is staged to help propagate the need for peace as Ghana is about entering into election 2016 and football which is believed to be the passion of the nation is being used as a tool to foster unity amongst the various political parties.

Sol Campbell was accompanied by Ghanaian born Dutch international George Boateng, who once captained Middlesbrough in the EPL. Ex-Black Stars players namely Ibrahim Sunday, Dan Owusu, Tony Baffoe and Augustine Arhinful and the MP for Asante Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang were all there to grace the occasion.

Two games have been scheduled to help promote peace ahead of the 2016 general election in November 7: Asante Kotoko will face retired and active international football Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on June 7 and another game between the Black Stars and the international football stars on 11th June.
