Bechem United, 3 other clubs suspected of match fixing

The Ghana Football Association is investigating clubs in the topflight league for match fixing

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has written to the GFA to investigate into Liberty Professionals’ 3-2 league victory over Bechem United last season. The GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has also revealed that he received phone calls prior to Bechem United’s league games against Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League games this season and was told the outcomes of those games.

The GFA has therefore stated that they are embarking on an undercover investigation to unravel the issue of suspected match fixing in the country.

“FIFA wrote to us to investigate into Liberty Professionals’ 3-2 win against Bechem United last season. Also I had calls from some individuals before the league games between Bechem United and Aduana Stars regarding the outcome of those games and they came to pass.

“A betting company in South Africa also wrote to us. At the moment we are embarking on an undercover investigation to ascertain the truth concerning that matter and advise ourselves,” he Kwesi Nyantakyi said it during a Stakeholders seminar held at University of Professionals Studies, Legon on Friday.
