Wa All Stars beat off competition at the latter stages of the season to succeed Ashanti Gold as champions of Ghana's domestic league football, whilst Bechem United defeated Division One side, Okwawu United in the final of the MTN FA Cup to lift the trophy.

And GHALCA, the mother body of all league clubs in the country, hailed the clubs for deservedly winning the trophies.

"Congratulations to Wa All Stars for winning the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League. Congratulations to Bechem United for winning the MTN FA Cup. They are deserved winners of the competitions," GHALCA chairman, Kudjoe Fianoe began in an interview with Happy FM.

"We are also grateful to all the Clubs for participating in the league from the start to finish. It is a league without a sponsor to leverage the financial burden on the clubs, but they participated to the end without qualms.

"We hope to have a better and a stronger league next season. Even though it is not the responsibility of anyone to secure sponsorship for the clubs, they still did well, but we could have done better," he noted.

Television rights holders of the Ghana Premier League, Super Sports released a first tranche of the sponsorship money ($160,000) to the Ghana FA midway through the season which was distributed to all the participating clubs.

However, clubs are yet to be filled with second tranche which was paid to the FA, and they are demanding for clarification for the whereabouts of the money.

"We had an agreement and it is mandatory for us to be privy to the deal we had. We are supposed to be told what the money from Super Sport was spent on. A first tranche of the money from Super Sports was given to the clubs during the season, but we've not been told anything about the second tranche, that's all we are asking for," he stated.

Ashanti Gold were winners of the league last year, but disappointingly finished eighth this season.

And Kudjoe Fianoe, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Miners, and is disappointed they failed to defend the tilte.

He added that, a stronger AshGold will be paraded next season because they know where they faulted and will arrest those problems before next season.

"I am disappointed as defending champion because I anticipated we were going dominate the league for three consecutive seasons like we did 1990s but we failed to do it, but that is football.

"We have seen where we faulted and will address them before next season. If we are crying for not defending the league, what about those who have been relegated? We will find solutions to the problems that truncated our target and produce a stronger AshGold next season," he said.

GHALCA will hold their first delegates meeting under the Chairmanship of Kudjoe Fianoe tomorrow. Pulse.com.gh understands that they Association will deliberate on whether to play Top-four or G-6.

"With Bechem United going to Africa, we may continue with the G-6 but i don't want to predict what delegates think," a member of the Executive Council told Pulse.com.gh.
