Asante Kotoko finished last season in fifth position, the first time they failed to make the top four in several seasons.

The Porcupine Warrior will be missing the services of the sensational striker, Dauda Mohammed, who joined Anderlecht in the January transfer window.

However, they have beefed up the squad with the inclusion of Abass Mohammed and Kwame Boahene, a striker and an attacking midfielder, respectively from Medeama.

Asante Kotoko will be counting on their dynamic skipper Amos Frimpong, who scored eight goals as a defender last season for the side.

Last season Kotoko lost their opening day game in a 0-2 defeat against sensational WAFA, despite impressive pre-season outings for the Porcupine Warriors

Liberty Professionals

The Scientific Soccer lads have changed technical hands-Sellas Tetteh, the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winning coach has replaced George Lamptey.

Liberty Professionals had a good start to the season, but they struggled in the second round and had to avoid relegation on the final day of the season.

The absence of Latif Blessing, the last season’s topscorer of the Ghana Premier League, with 17 goals will affect them big time.

He was their major source of goals last season for Liberty and his move to Kansas City in the MLS means, he won’t be available for Selas Tetteh’s side, however, the Dansoman side are noted for unearthing talent, so no one knows the next promising star to emerge.

Liberty Professionals like Kotoko also suffered a defeat in the opening day of last season against Bechem United in an away fixture

Head to head

Kotoko have a superior record against Liberty Professional. They have won 21, lost 6 and drawn 5 games.
