The Porcupine Warriors have been in scintillating form in the off season, and boasts of a squad with enough depth to compete in all fronts. They will be without the services of promising youngster Dauda Mohammed who scored 13 goals in his debut season for the record Ghana Premier League champions, and Jackson Owusu (ruled out for the entire season with a broken tibia), who was an integral member of the team that placed second and won silver in the MTN FA Cup.

Head coach David Duncan has named 20 players to get the goose done as they look for a strong start to avoid last year's failure.

West Africa Football Academy on the other hand, were a delight to watch last season and they have continued from where they left off. The Academy boys have been very good in their preparations for the season, with the highlight of their solid display yielding double victory (1-0 in two matches) over the home-based national team of Togo in Lome.

ASHANTI  GOLD V MEDEAMA SC

Ashanti Gold, winners of the Ghana Premier league last season will begin their title defence against the MTN FA Cup champions at home, and the match is expected to be a spectacle.

The two sides met on February 7 in the Super Cup to usher in the new season, and Medeama SC came on top. Ashanti Gold who were aggrieved after the defeat have an opportunity to revenge the defeat head coach Bashir Hayford described as 'painful'.

BECHEM UNITED V LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS

Bechem United and Liberty Professionals placed 12th and 5th respectively on the league table.

Only 2 points separated the two sides, though. Both sides will be hoping for an early season opportunity to be part of teams at the summit of the table, and the available 3 points will be keenly contested for.

HEARTS OF OAK V NEW EDUBIASE

Accra Hearts of Oak has a new coach and are expected to take off the season this weekend. Kenichi Yatushashi will hope to introduce his new philosophy to the Hearts playing body.

The Japanese -- American trainer standard has been questioned since his appointment on the latter part of last year, but the former Aspire Academy players’ development coach has kept his head down and stamp his authority in the Phobian camp.

The torrid pre-season emotional injections for poor result after poor result has now lost the very fibre that raised questions more than answers. The Phobians will host New Edubiase, a side that took all 6 points from them last season at home and away.

New Edubiase has lost key players in the off season in Nuhu brothers and Asiedu Attobrah who were a nemesis in last year's fixture.
