Preview of the Ghana Premier League game between Berekum Chelsea and Hearts of Oak

Over the weekend there will one scintillating

Berekum Chelsea on the log sheet are in sixth position with 16 points while the Phobians sit at the second position with 18 points.

Berekum Golden City has been a fortress ground for all the other 15 Premier League clubs but for the Phobians, it is a venue they have not won a game against Berekum Chelsea.

The Berekum based club in the ongoing campaign have been very formidable at home winning all their previous five games while the Accra giants are yet to lose an away.

Both sides will be going into the game from the backdrop of a defeat. Berekum Chelsea lost 1-2 away to New Edubiase while Hearts of Oak were stunned 0-1 at home by their fiercest rivals Asante Kotoko.

Due to national assignment Berekum Chelsea inspirational captain and their leading top-scorer with five goals Saddick Adams will miss Sunday’s duel, Sabbah Laryea and Ibrahim will also be out of Heart of Oak squad.

Nicholas Opoku of Berekum Chelsea ahead of the game spoke to Pulse.com.gh:

“It will be a cagy game but I’m hopeful my team will win, we have rich home history against Hearts of Oak and we want to maintain it.

“Hearts of Oak is currently one of the best teams in the league and a win against them will definitely boost our morale so we are taking the game very serious,” he said.

After dropping points at home to Kotoko, Isaac Mensah who has been Hearts f Oak’s brightest spot this season has called for support from the club’s teeming fans.

“We know we disappointed our fans last Monday but we want to react quickly to that loss which is by beating Berekum Chelsea so we are calling for their support,” confident Mensah told Pulse.com.gh

“It is on record that we have not won against them at Berekum but there is always a first time, we have the men to beat them and on Sunday we will do that.

“Our away performances have been very solid in away and we want to continue doing that so we are going all out with the aim of getting the three maximum points.”

The two sides have met 14 times since Berekum Chelsea’s promotion in the 2008/2009 season. Hearts of Oak have won four, drawn four and lost six in the 14 encounters.
