Inter Allies beat Aduana 2-0

Aduana Stars huffed and puffed, but they succumbed to Inter Allies at the Tema sports stadium.

Inter Allies defeated Aduana Stars at the Tema sports stadium on Match day One of the Ghana Premier League.

Two first half goals from Ropapa Mensah and Isaac Twum were enough to amass all points available on Sunday afternoon.

Aduana Stars, tagged favourites for the afternoon encounter went into an early sleep, allowing Herbert Addo's boys to take control of proceedings from the onset and their early dominance paid dividends on the 19th minute, courtesy  Ropapa Mensah.

A delicious one-two passing between Isaac Twum and Lord Offosuhene sent the latter into the far right, and he delivered a promising cross right on the forehead of the waiting Ropapa Mensah and he made no mistake, beating Joseph Addo from about six yards with a low header.

The early goal pinned Aduana to the wall and they woke up from their sleep and caused major problems for Inter Allies. The pendulum swung to their side, but their efforts were aimless as the target man preferred the turf to win the referee's sympathy instead of fighting for the 50-50 balls.

They exerted their presence and finally carved a superb opportunity, their best of the afternoon, but it was wasted by Francis Larbi. At the opposite end, Isaac Twum’s powerful pass to Ropapa Mensah was well controlled.

The 5ft 9 inches youngster took his eyes off the ball, and delivered a back heel pass to Isaac Twum and he superbly sent helpless Joseph Addo the wrong way to make it 2:0 with six minutes to end play.

Nurudeen Ali Ibrahim’s boys were well beaten and the contest was all but over.

The second half started just as the first, but Aduana Stars added more urgency into their play and looked like a side ready to pull back the scores into level terms.

Yahaya Mohammed nearly got a consolation, with a powerful free-kick from the edge of the box, but Kwame Baah was ready for the task and he saved with aplomb.
