Samer Hage wins Asantehene Gold Cup 2016

Samer Hage emerged the best in the MTN sponsored Asantehene Gold Cup 2016

Constance Awuni, also from the host club dominated the ladies scratch section to complete the Royal Golf Club double on the back of a score of 162 points at the competition held in honour of the king of the Ashantis, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

For their efforts, they took home a 48 inch Samsung Curve television each, giant gold trophies among other mouthwatering prices.

Ebenezer Asante Twum, CEO of MTN Ghana hailed the success of the 2016 tournament and reiterated his outfit’s commitment to the development of the sport in the country, referring to the Asantehene Gold Cup as a huge platform for networking and interactions with their cherished subscribers.

“From our point of view, golf is a very exciting game and our aim is to make it a popular sport in Ghana,” Mr. Twum said in his address at the 59th MTN Gold Cup tournament in the Ashanti Regional capital.

“In this regard, MTN continues to sponsor quarterly CEO’s Invitational tournaments, which have all received great participation. As a corporate entity that values building and maintaining a strong relationship, with its stakeholders, MTN is excited to be part of the tournament for the 7th time,” the MTN boss added.

He continued: “Activities lined up for this year’s Ashantifest can be classified under four main areas: commercial, community development, entertainment and sports.”

Royal Golf Club President, Frankie Osei-Assibey expressed sincere thanks  to MTN and other sponsors for making the well patronized competition eventful.

Francis Donkor-Baah, Captain Royal Golf Club also commended Lady Julia, wife of  Otumfuo  for her contribution in unearthing fresh young golfers in Kumasi.
