Ghanaian defender makes trial appearance in MLS

Former Eikisehirspor defender Jerry Akaminko plays in a trial game for Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake

Ghanaian defender Jerry Akaminko played 30 minutes for MLS side Real Salt Lake as they lost 1-0 in a pre-season scrimmage against champions Portland Timbers at the Kino Sports Complex.

Akaminko's contract with Eskisehirspor was terminated after the defender's struggle to break into the first team after a long injury lay off.

Akaminko replaced Aaron Maund in the 60th minute of the game that was highlighted by a melee involving Yura Movsisyan and Jack McInerney.

The former Heart of Lions centerback will hope he made enough of an impression to enough a permanent deal before the start of the new MLS season.
