Coach to stay put at Hearts of Oak

Media reports on Thursday had suggested the Japanese tactician was on his way out if the club after a falling out with members of the management board of the club.

Kenichi Yatsuhashi will remain as head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak until further notice.

It seems however he has earned a stay of execution after a lengthy board meeting that went on till almost midnight on Thursday.

Yatsuhashi's nine month stay has been a roller coaster ride for the once multiple time winners of the Ghana league. He has been involved in several confrontations with management over his style and his unwillingness to bend to management input. He is however very popular with the rest of his coaching staff and the players.

Hearts of Oak ended the first round of the league table in fourth place and with the best away record in the league but have struggled to replicate their form at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The decision to allow Yatsuhashi to stay on as coach creates an interesting conundrum for Serbian tactician Kosta Papic,a former coach of the team who had been heavily tipped to take over the job.
