Leicester City are Champions of the English Premier League for the 2015/2016 season

The chants at Stamford Bridge on Monday night were Leicester! Leicester!! The irony of those chants was no Leicester City player was kicking a ball that moment.

It was a London derby in the Premier League between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

The passion of Chelsea fans seeing Tottenham Hotspur lose the Premier League title was far greater than their concern of their utterly abysmal attempt in defending their league title.

Leicester City went into their game against Manchester United on Sunday needing three points to win the league title. Louis van Gaal’s team denied them the wish.

With three games for Tottenham Hospur and eight points away from Leicester City, only a win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea could keep their title hopes alive; at least for another match day.

Chelsea weren’t going to have it. Players of the Blues had already expressed their total hate of seeing their London rivals win the league and when the situation was put into their hands, they delivered.

Two first half goals from Harry Kane an Heung-Min Son put Tottenham Hotspur fans in extreme ecstasy.

But a second half resurgence from the 2014/2015 Premier League champions saw them wipe the smiles off the faces of Spurs with some swagger.

Gary Cahill pulled on back for Chelsea after the interval to put the home team right back into the game.

Eden Hazard, a player who had publicly stated he didn’t want Tottenham Hotspur to win the league took matter into his feet after his introduction into the second half of the game.

Constantly threatening the backline of the visitors, Hazard finally got his breakthrough to score the equalizing goal that broke Tottenham Hotspur hearts and put joy in the hearts of Leicester City at equal measure.

The drama was immense. Emotions and flaring tackles were on the rampage. Punches were thrown. Words were said. And above all, a great game of football made history.

Leicester City in their own small corner, probably Jamie Vardy’s residence were crowned champions without even kicking a ball on Monday.
