Boateng brothers set to join MLS

Reports have surfaced recently linking half-brothers Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng and AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng to the league.

The Boateng brothers have already faced off in the Bundesliga and in two separate World Cups – could they meet next in MLS?

Reports have surfaced recently linking half-brothers Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng and AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng to the league.

Bayern’s Boateng, who was recently in the US rehabbing a groin injury and is represented by Jay Z’s Roc Nation agency, told Complex late ast month that he could one day see himself playing in MLS.

Kevin-Prince Boateng has also been connected to MLS before, but new rumors surfaced on Tuesday again linking him with the league. It’s been reported that Boateng won’t be brought back by Milan next season, with Italian outlets reporting on Tuesday that the Ghanaian international could land with Serie A club Lazio, MLS or in Saudi Arabia.

Jerome Boateng, 27, has been with Bayern Munich since 2011, winning three Bundesliga titles and Champions League crown with the German giants. He represents Germany internationally, and helped the country to their third-place finish at the 2010 World Cup before playing a leading role in their run to the 2014 title.

The 29-year-old Kevin-Prince Boateng has bounced between Germany, Italy and England in his pro career, most notably playing for Milan from 2010-2013 and Schalke from 2013-2015. Born in Berlin, he chose to represent Ghana internationally and played for the country at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Paternal half-brothers through their Ghanaian father, both Boatengs were born in Berlin and began their careers with Hertha Berlin. They faced off in the group stages of the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, and are the only brothers to play for opposite teams in the history of the tournament.
