Nigerian-New Zealander professional mixed martial artist Israel Mobolaji Adesanya is set to defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title against Brazilian Alexsandro Pereira.

He now headlines the third showdown at the famous Madison Square Garden, home of the NBA franchise the New York Knickerbockers.

Ahead of the first, Adesanya has compared himself to the Yoruba deity of his ancestral home of Ogun known to be the god of Iron.

After the final pre-fight meeting and ceremonial weigh-ins ahead of the UFC 281 main event title fight.

Adesanya took to social media to post pictures with a message that said, "ÒGÚN!! The Yorùbá God of Iron, of War, and of Metallurgy."

Pereira on the other hand came in with his face painted red and traditional headgear.

Speaking at the weigh-in through a translator he said, “I’m in his head because of that knockout,

“I respect him and the work he’s done. But I’m here now. What he has will soon be mine.”

Adesanya has lost twice to Pereira and the build-up to the fight between the Nigerian and the Brazilian was as intense as ever.

The fight between Adesanya and Pereira is the main event and the last fight of UFC 281.

It will take place early on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 6:00 AM Nigerian time.

It will be available to view on the cable network DSTV and subscription on ESPN plus.
