Manchester City keen on Inaki Williams

English Premier League side Manchester City have scouts watching Inaki Williams for a possible £15.3 million transfer move from Athletic Bilbao

English Premier League side Manchester City have developed keen interest in signing Inaki Williams, a Spanish footballer born in Bilbao to a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother.

The 21-year-old is the youngest player in Europe to have scored 10 goals in 21 games this season, playing mainly as a winger.

The superb run of form from Inaki Williams has attracted interest from top clubs around with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Jeffrey Schlupp’s side Leicester.

Manchester City have stepped up their pursuit for the Athletic Bilbao’s player by sending European scout Rob Newman and head of recruitment Gary Worthington to monitor the Spanish player with Ghanaian descent during Athletic’s Copa del Rey game against Villarreal last Wednesday.

Inaki Williams was the player who scored the only game against Villareal.

The scout and the head of recruitment for Manchester City were also present on Sunday night to monitor Williams. The Spanish winger played 56 minutes as his Athletic Bilbao side were thrashed 6-0 by World Player of the Year Lionel Messi and co of Barcelona.

Spanish club Athletic Bilbao are looking to pin their academy graduate down with a new long-term contract. The player is expected to be paid £15, 000 after taxes with this new contract but the Spanish club are struggling to agree terms with his agent Felix Tainta.

The release clause for Inaki Williams is set at £15.3 million.
