Andre Greipel has extended his contract with Lotto-Soudal until the end of the 2018.

The German won three stages of this year's Giro d'Italia, taking the tally for his career to 20, before abandoning the race after his success on the 12th leg.

And the star sprinter has affirmed his commitment to the Belgian team having initially joined them in 2011.

He told their official website: "I am really happy the team puts its trust in me for the upcoming two years. The contract extension was something both parties really wanted. I feel good in this team and get the necessary support, also from the young riders.

"The team offers opportunities to young talent and those riders can perform even in the big races. They help me and I can give them tips. At this moment I can't imagine riding for another team."

Marcel Sieberg has also signed an extension until the end of 2018, while Geraint Thomas has penned a new two-year contract with Team Sky.

"Signing again was an easy decision," said Thomas, who is expected to form part of Chris Froome's support at the Tour de France.

"Team Sky feels like home. From the other riders to the staff, I love it here."
