Blues crush Sharks to tie series

The St Louis Blues crushed the San Jose Sharks 6-3 to tie their NHL Western Conference final series at 2-2 on Saturday.

The St Louis Blues crushed the San Jose Sharks 6-3 to tie their NHL Western Conference final series at 2-2 on Saturday.

The Blues held a 4-0 lead at the start of the third period before the Sharks managed to get on the board, but the damage had already been done.

St Louis' win means there will be at least six games in the best-of-seven series as the fight for a Stanley Cup final spot goes on.

Troy Brouwer struck first for the Blues six minutes, 14 seconds into the first period before Jori Lehtera doubled their advantage four minutes later.

The Blues continued their dominance in the second period, with Kyle Brodziak scoring twice to give the visitors a commanding lead at the SAP Center in San Jose.

Joe Pavelski pulled one back for the Sharks early in the third period but Brouwer's deflected effort meant the Blues restored their four-goal advantage.

Chris Tierney and Melker Karlsson also found the net for the Sharks either side of Alex Pietrangelo's goal, with the Blues sealing a comprehensive victory.

Game five takes place on Monday as the Blues look to take the series lead on home ice.
