Burgess sent for scans after neck injury

South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Sam Burgess will find out the extent of his neck injury after scans in hospital on Sunday.

Sam Burgess was sent to hospital for scans on Sunday after suffering a neck injury during South Sydney Rabbitohs'??NRL defeat to St George Illawarra Dragons.

The loose??forward, in his third competitive game??back in rugby league following his cross-code switch,??suffered the scare??as the Rabbitohs fell to their first loss??of the campaign, the Dragons running out 8-6 winners at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Burgess was carried from the field on a??stretcher??on the hour after an accidental head clash with fellow English forward Mike Cooper.

Upon impact, Burgess immediately fell to the ground and after medical treatment was taken to hospital in Sydney.

"At the moment he's gone for scans, the doctors were pretty positive which is good news," said head coach Michael??Maguire.??

"He was in a bit of pain. He got compressed quite heavily.

"He had a bit of tingling through one arm, but they go through all the right process when you have an incident like that.??

"From what I've been told he was pretty positive when they put him in the ambulance, so we'll have to wait and see the scans.

"I'm looking forward to chatting to him later and seeing where he is at."
