Andrew Bogut and Kevin Love are on opposite sides of the NBA Finals, but that did not stop the Golden State Warriors centre defending his Cleveland Cavaliers rival.

Love, who sat out game three after suffering a concussion on Sunday, is questionable to play game four and following the Cavs' 120-90 win over the Warriors on Wednesday, some were questioning whether the team is better off without him.

But Australian Bogut spoke out against those calling Love "soft"."There's probably people calling Kevin Love soft and those people are idiots," Bogut said after practice on Thursday. You don't mess around with the brain."

Love suffered his concussion when Harrison Barnes' elbow hit him in the back of the head.

He went through the league's concussion protocol and has not yet been cleared to play.

Bogut knows from experience how painful and dangerous a concussion can be. He missed two weeks early in the season after taking a blow to the head."You can be a hero now in the NBA Finals in 2016, and in 2021 you will be sucking food through a straw," Bogut said.

"And you won't give a [expletive] about what you did in 2016."

The Warriors lead the Cavs 2-1 in the best-of-seven championship series.
