Liam Plunkett rates the current England one-day international team as the best he has played in and believes they can still take it to another level.

England have been a different proposition in limited-overs cricket since Trevor Bayliss was appointed as head coach after Peter Moores was sacked following a poor showing in the World Cup last year.

Eoin Morgan's side can seal a series victory over Pakistan with two games remaining by winning at Trent Bridge on Tuesday and paceman Plunkett, who has played in 41 ODIs since making his debut 11 years ago, said the current crop is the strongest he has featured in.

"At the start you are perhaps a little bit in awe of people around you like [Andrew] Flintoff and KP [Kevin Pietersen]," said the 31-year-old quick.

"We had individuals in the past, but I feel this is the best team. We had that New Zealand series last year, when we showed what we could do, and have gone from strength to strength.

"Even when we lost that series in South Africa [in February], we were not discouraged. We carried on and kept backing what we did.

"This is the best one-day team I have played with, but we know we can improve, which is the best thing."

England were 3-0 winners in the five-match series against Sri Lanka before taking on Pakistan and Plunkett is eyeing a whitewash over Azhar Ali's men.

"In the Sri Lanka [ODI] series we were ahead and we won all the games we needed to there, so it'll be the same mindset now," he said.

"We need to improve, we all agree on that, and we're still trying to take it up a notch.

"We want to win this series 5-0, not 3-0, so we're trying to focus on winning every game."
