Cubs win again, Andrus delivers for Rangers in MLB

The Chicago Cubs continued their strong start to the MLB season as Elvis Andrus stepped up for the Texas Rangers.

Jason Hammel allowed just one hit over seven innings as the Cubs beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 to improve to 39-15 this season.

Andrus had three RBIs for the Rangers as they made a red-hot start in their 10-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

Carlos Correa hit a walk-off single as the Houston Astros battled past the Oakland Athletics for a 6-5 win after 12 innings.

Jonathan Villar homered for the third time in as many games as the Milwaukee Brewers overcame the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3.

A five-run seventh helped the Pittsburgh Pirates edge the Los Angeles Angels 8-7 and the Boston Red Sox ended a three-game losing run, beating the Toronto Blue Jays 6-4.

The Washington Nationals went down to the Cincinnati Reds 6-3, the Cleveland Indians brushed past the Kansas City Royals 7-1 and the New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-6.

The St Louis Cardinals claimed a 7-4 win against the San Francisco Giants, the San Diego Padres overcame the Colorado Rockies 4-3, while the Los Angeles Dodgers blanked the Atlanta Braves 4-0.

The Detroit Tigers recorded a 7-4 win over the Chicago White Sox, the New York Mets rallied past the Miami Marlins 6-4 and the Tampa Bay Rays were 7-4 winners over the Minnesota Twins.

ANDRUS STANDS UP

Andrus played a big role in the Rangers' win over the Mariners. He went two-for-four at the plate, including a home run. He scored three runs and knocked home three RBIs. He also had a stolen base. ELLSBURY STEALS HOME

The Yankees' Jacoby Ellsbury stole home for the second time this season.

STRASBURG LIFTS STRIKEOUT TALLY

The Nationals' Stephen Strasburg recorded 1,000 strikeouts in his career, becoming just the eighth starting pitcher in history to do it in 144 or fewer games. ARRIETA RESUMES UNBEATEN

The matchup between the Diamondbacks and Cubs may not be all that enticing, but Jake Arrieta (9-0) is putting his undefeated record on the line as the red-hot Cubs seek another win on Sunday. He will match up against Patrick Corbin (2-5), who is coming off of two poor consecutive outings.
