Roberto Bautista Agut was threatening to spring a huge shock in the French Open, the Spaniard taking the first set off Novak Djokovic.

Rain again brought a halt to the action at Roland Garros on Tuesday, with Novak Djokovic a set down in his delayed fourth-round tie against Roberto Bautista Agut.

World number one Djokovic had been due to play on Monday, only for persistent showers to force the first full-day washout in the French Open for 16 years.

The Serbian did take to Court Philippe Chatrier 24 hours later than planned, after a delayed start due to more inclement weather, but lost the first set to 14th seed Bautista Agut 6-3 before the heavens opened once more.

Further rain provided a headache for tournament organisers, with a host of quarter-final berths in the respective men's and women's singles still to be decided on the day the last-eight matches were scheduled to begin.

It was subsequently confirmed there would be no play before 3pm local time (2pm BST).
