French Open: Simona Halep fumes at organisers

"I did not feel safe on court" - Simona Halep was disappointed her match against Samantha Stosur was not suspended on Tuesday.

Simona Halep accused the French Open organisers of not caring about the players after she was forced to play her fourth-round match with Samantha Stosur during rain.

After play was suspended on Sunday, the last-16 clash between Halep and Stosur got back underway two days later, Monday's action having been cancelled due to the adverse conditions.

The wet weather remained on Tuesday, with Stosur coming from 5-3 down to win 7-6 (7-0) 6-3 under the rain, before play in other matches was postponed later in the day.

Halep suggested the competition organisers at Roland Garros showed no concern for the welfare of the players, admitting she did not feel safe on court.

"I knew I have no chance to change anything. No one cares about the players in my opinion," said the Romanian.

"I don't care that I lost the match today, but I was close to injuring my back, so that's a big problem. But like I said, no one cares. We have just to go and play.

Yes, I was [unhappy they started the match], because the court was not good. The balls were completely wet during the match. So I think it's too difficult to play tennis in these conditions.

"Maybe they are scared because the days are going on and they don't play matches. But it's not our fault, it's not their fault, but the decisions were not the best.

"I was frustrated about waiting three days and about playing in the rain. That was the biggest problem for me. I didn't feel safe on court."

Halep won the Madrid Open in May and felt she could have gone all the way at Roland Garros had the conditions been drier.

"I was very far [from thinking about the title] because I finished in the fourth round, but I think that I had a chance," she continued.

"If the courts are dry here I have a chance, because I like the conditions when it's normal weather.

"In Madrid it was different. That's why I played so well. I like those conditions. But I didn't think about the [French Open] title."
