The self-acclaimed Chief of Staff of Kwesi Nyantakyi is understood to be groomed for the GFA position. He is one of the longest serving members of the GFA Executive Committee which is the highest decision-making body.

Afriyie is currently the vice president of the GFA and the chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee. The vast experience he has gained over the years working as ad administrator and director of clubs like Olympics, All Blacks and Liberty  Professionals would count when he is given the opportunity to take over from his boss.

Kudjoe Fianoo

The astute football administrator over the years has worked in various capacities in football administration as a welfare chairman of the Black Stars to the administrative manager of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA). Fianoo has headed the management committee of Ashanti Gold for close to a decade, helping them to win their first league title in 19 years. He is currently the chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA). Kudjoe Fianoo doesn’t fancy Kwesi Nyantakyi’s administrative procedures and have disagreed on certain key issues regarding the way forward for the Ghana football. Fianoo might bring on board something new to change the face of Ghana football from the old paradigm.

Randy Abbey

Randy Abbey is the owner of Kpando Heart of Lions, who are currently playing in the national Division One League. Abbey served on the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from 2005 to 2015 and worked as the Communications director of the GFA during the first tenure of Kwesi Nyantakyi. He has also worked with clubs like Kessben FC now Medeama, Hearts of Oak, so his enormous experience pertaining to football administration can’t be overlooked when looking at prospective candidates to succeed Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Two years ago it was reported that Randy Abbey wanted to contest Kwesi Nyantakyi for the GFA presidency, but the former in the end went unopposed.

Fred Pappoe

The director of Accra Great Olympics is a household name in football administration. Fred Pappoe who was the vice president of the GFA during the first term of Kwesi Nyantakyi’s administration would be a good candidate for the GFA position looking at his experience over the year. He is an enthusiastic person and he has developed a niche for himself as an astute football administrator. The Black Stars did so well under him as the management committee chairman from 2005 to 2011 and it was under his watch that the senior male national football team qualified for two consecutive FIFA World Cup-2006 and 2010.

Herbert Mensah

Many soccer connoisseurs and fans are looking for a GFA president who would be able to make the FA financially viable and Herbert Mensah comes to mind as the man for the job. He made Asante Kotoko very attractive in the early 2000’s by incorporating business ideas into the running of Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Although the Porcupine Warriors couldn’t win a major title during the period he took charge of the club, he is the most popular football administrator in the history of the club for the past three decades. The Ghana Premier League is finding it difficult to get a headline sponsor for  reasons such as lack of stars in the league, competition from the Europeans, amongst many others, but it is believed Mensah could turn things around when handed the opportunity to lead the GFA.
