I told Warner to review - Australia's Bailey

Australia batsman George Bailey insists he told David Warner to review his dismissal in their team's heavy loss to New Zealand on Wednesday.

Warner was given out lbw in the seventh over of Australia's chase at Eden Park, but only after he jumped and was hit in the knee roll by a Trent Boult delivery.

He consulted with Bailey before walking off, triggering a collapse by the tourists as they slumped to a 159-run defeat in Auckland.

Bailey said he told Warner to review and was left confused when the left-hander walked off.

"I said, 'what did it feel like?' He said, 'high', and I said, 'go for it', and he turned around and walked off," he told RSN.

"I don't really know what more he wants from my end.

"At the end of the day, all those things get spoken about.

"The first port of call is the umpire I still think and a lot gets written about DRS and who should be doing what, but the umpire is there to make a decision and he made it."

After Bailey was out in the next over, he spoke to Warner in the dressing room, with the opener telling him he was unconvinced by their on-pitch exchange.

Australia were bowled out for 148 in their heavy loss and Matthew Wade's 37 proved their top score.

Ahead of the second ODI on Saturday, Bailey said Australia's review of their performance was simple.

"We reviewed it in much the same way we batted – quickly," he said.

"In a quick series, you've got to turn it around reasonably quickly and there wasn't much to review to be perfectly honest. We just didn't bat really well and we need to fix it."
