Jane seals Toshiba Brave Lupus switch from Hurricanes

Toshiba Brave Lupus have signed Cory Jane from the Hurricanes, the former All Black moving at the end of the Super Rugby season.

World Cup winner Cory Jane will leave Super Rugby at the end of the season after signing a two-year contract with Toshiba Brave Lupus in Japan.

Jane – who was part of the New Zealand side who lifted the Webb Ellis trophy in 2011 – is one of two signings made by the Top League outfit, the 33-year-old joining Coenie van Wyk.

Since making his Super Rugby debut in 2007, Jane has made 100 appearances for the Hurricanes and scored 28 tries, while his All Blacks career has seen him rack up 80 points.

After his first year in Japan, Jane will return to Hurricanes in 2017 for the final year of his contract with the franchise, before heading back to the Top League.

"I'm looking forward to playing in Japan and to experiencing a new culture and taking on a new challenge," said the winger.

"It was important to me that I honoured the remaining year on my Hurricanes contract and of course that I was sure I was doing what was best for my family. To have achieved both of those things is great."
