Burgess suffered the injury in round three and missed the Rabbitohs' 42-12 loss to the Canterbury Bulldogs on Good Friday.

But the 27-year-old is ready to return, coach Michael Maguire confirmed on Tuesday.

"He will be playing," Maguire told a news conference.

"He is fine and he is ready to go. He has had a week off, he has had a rest and he is good to go."

Burgess' return will be a huge boost to the Rabbitohs, who have suffered back-to-back losses after opening the season with two wins.

Rabbitohs forward Nathan Brown was happy to see Burgess making his comeback.

"Sam's a great player – it's great to have him back, but we've got other people now in our position that have got to do their job," he said.

"He's feeling good – looking sweet as. He's saying to the boys that he's good so we'll see how he pulls up.

"He's doing all the weights and physio stuff."
