Defending champion Djokovic was due to face Vesely at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday, but the unseeded Czech withdrew from the final grand slam of the year due to an inflammation of his left forearm.

Top seed Djokovic needed treatment on his right arm during a 6-3 5-7 6-2 6-1 victory over Pole Jerzy Janowicz on the opening day at Flushing Meadows, but said he is "all good" after the match.

The 12-time grand slam champion, who headed to New York on the back of a first-round defeat to Juan Martin del Potro at Rio 2016 and suffered a shock third-round exit at Wimbledon last month, will face either Guido Pella or Mikhail Youzhny in round three.

Tenth seed Gael Monfils takes on Jan Satral at Arthur Ashe rather than Court 17 following the cancellation of the scheduled encounter between Djokovic and Vesely.
