Williams had limited preparation in the lead-up to the season's opening grand slam due to a knee injury, which forced the American star to withdraw from the Hopman Cup earlier this month.
Serena Williams: I'm improving match by match
Slowly but surely, defending Australian Open champion Serena Williams feels she is starting to play her best tennis at Melbourne Park.
The world number one, however, has not missed a beat at Melbourne Park so far after reaching the third round via a 6-1 6-2 win over Hsieh Su-wei on Wednesday.
Asked about the most pleasing aspect of her match on Rod Laver Arena, Williams said: "Definitely my consistency.
"I don't think I made that many errors today. Something I was hopefully trying to get back into.
"And I moved much better today, I think, so slowly but surely feeling a little bit better."
Williams fired down seven aces, tallied 26 winners and broke serve on four occasions as she made light work of the world number 90.
The 21-time grand slam champion, who will meet Daria Kasatkina for a spot in the fourth round, added: "I think I was really focused and, you know, that first round really helped me because I was really just fighting. I really gave a big effort there.
"Today again I just wanted to stay focused for the whole time."
