Pirelli has confirmed it will remain the tyre supplier for Formula One until the end of the 2019 season.

In a long-mooted deal finally announced on Friday, Pirelli revealed moderations to technical regulations within the sport including "significant changes to the bodywork and wider tyres".

Some drivers had criticised the manufacturer's tyres and Pirelli was keen to be afforded in-season testing sessions to meet their requirements.

One of the main sticking points was the drivers' desire to get better wear from the tyres when racing flat out for extended periods, which Pirelli believes it can address.
