RFL to investigate Huddersfield-Salford crowd trouble

An independent investigation will be launched after players fought with fans at the John Smith's Stadium following Huddersfield Giants' Super League meeting with Salford Red Devils.

Salford players Junior S'au and Justin Carney jumped into the crowd following the 26-24 victory over Huddersfield, with reports suggesting they were trying to protect family members as a separate issue arose in the stands.

Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash as vowed to hand down life bans to the supporters who instigated the incident.

"We will conduct a full investigation into the events that took place in the away section of the crowd at the game between Huddersfield and Salford," RFL chief executive Nigel Wood said.

"We do not condone violence of any kind and will ensure that anyone found to have acted improperly is dealt with accordingly."
