Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Ashish Nehra has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League season with a hamstring injury.

The 37-year-old has been in fine form for the table toppers, taking nine wickets in eight outings.

Victory for Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Lions on Thursday will secure the Sunrisers' place in the play-offs, but Nehra will be absent after he sustained "a significant hamstring tendon injury" during the match against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday.

"Ashish Nehra is now in consultation with a specialist orthopaedic surgeon for the most appropriate course of treatment to ensure a successful return to competitive cricket," read a franchise statement.
