John McEnroe has called a halt to his working relationship with Milos Raonic ahead of the US Open to "make life easier for everyone".

McEnroe linked up with Raonic in an advisory capacity ahead of the grass-court season, but feels the time has already come to cut ties.

A conflict of interest appeared to surface at Wimbledon when McEnroe's broadcasting commitments took precedence over being present court-side for the 25-year-old Canadian's matches in the latter stages.

Ranoic is already coached full-time by Riccardo Piatti and 1998 French Open winner Carlos Moya.

McEnroe believes it is in the best interest of all parties if he stands down from his duties ahead of the final grand slam of the year.

"Milos has two coaches. I came in an advisory role before Wimbledon. He's got a great team around him," McEnroe is quoted as saying on an ESPN conference call.

"I think it's best and easiest at this point, this week I was with him, but having thought about it, and for Milos' sake, I think it's best that we stop right now.

"So when the US Open starts on Monday, he's got his people. I'm pulling for him and want him to do well.

"But it's best to sort of separate at this stage. It will just make life easier for everyone."
