Thomas Davis' wife posts picture of Panthers LB in hospital

Carol Panthers' Thomas Davis has owed not to let a broken arm keep him out of the Super Bowl, and he apparently is already on the mend.

The heart and soul of the Carolina Panthers' defense is not wasting any time in his quest to play in the Super Bowl.

Thomas Davis suffered a broken right arm in Sunday's NFC Championship win over the Arizona Cardinals, and the linebacker's wife, Kelly, posted a picture on Instagram on Monday morning that appeared to show Davis in the hospital, presumably preparing for surgery.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera confirmed to reporters later on Monday that Davis had undergone surgery, adding that the team believes Davis will be able to play in the Super Bowl if his recovery goes smoothly.

Davis vowed after Sunday's game to be ready for the February 7 match-up with the Denver Broncos in Santa Clara, California, and the veteran has demonstrated time and again that it is unwise to bet against him.

Just to get this far, Davis has endured three torn ACLs — injuries that limited him to just nine games from 2009-11 — and he has played the best football of his career in the wake of those setbacks.

The 32-year-old is a career Panther, a first-round pick by the franchise in 2005.

Renowned for his work off the field, Davis won the prestigious NFL Man of the Year award last season.

He followed it up by earning his first career Pro Bowl selection this term, but he will happily skip that trip to Hawaii to try and rehab for a much more meaningful game.

"I'll be back. I'll be ready to go. I guarantee you that," Thomas said on Sunday night at Bank of America Stadium. "I'm not going to miss the Super Bowl. Believe that.

"I'll talk to the trainers. But I'll figure out a way to get in that game. I promise you that. I've got two weeks to heal up."
