Tom Brady gets 14 extra days to appeal Deflategate ruling

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his legal team will have an extra two weeks to decide whether they want to appeal his four-game Deflategate suspension.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday Brady has been given an extension, until May 23, to appeal for a rehearing in front of the same three judges or have a brand new hearing.

The judges ruled on April 25 in a 2-1 decision that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was within his rights to suspend Brady for his alleged role in Deflategate, when under-inflated balls were used in the 2015 AFC championship against the Indianapolis Colts.

Brady had 14 days to respond to the ruling, but since has added Ted Olson to his legal team. It was Olson who was able to help secure the extension.

Olson is best known for arguing in front of the Supreme Court in the Bush vs. Gore case in 2000. He also helped overturn California's ban on same-sex marriages.
