Jean Segura is on his way to the Arizona Diamondbacks after the Milwaukee Brewers traded infielder Aaron Hill and pitcher Chase Anderson for the former top prospect.

The two sides completed a five-player deal on Saturday, which includes Tyler Wagner moving to Arizona, with Isan Diaz on his way to Milwaukee.

"This is actually a trade we've been working on for a long time," Brewers general manager David Stearns said.

"[Arizona executive] Dave Stewart was one of the first general managers I spoke to when I got the position, about potential trades.

"We went through a number of different iterations and discussions with different players involved, and ultimately this concept picked up steam over the past week."

Segura, 25, broke into the big leagues with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2012, before the shortstop was acquired by the Brewers just days later.

As part of the trade with the Diamondbacks, the Brewers also received cash in the deal to cover some of the $12million due to Hill in the final season of the veteran's three-year contract.
