Geoffrey Avornyotse, Vivian Dick beat them all

Sakumono golf club was the venue of action packed games on Saturday

Avornyotse totaled 38 points to win men’s group A in the one day stableford tournament at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, near Tema, beating Gabriel Ayiwah into the runner-up spot by a single point. Third place went to Mathias Dorfe who also finished a further point behind on 36 points whilst Thompson Komladzei took fourth position on 34 points. Avornyotse got a trophy and new mobile phone as well as free fibre broadband for three months as his prize, the other winners were also recipients of a trophy, phone and MTN souvenirs each.

Dick on the other hand, topped the ladies group A standings with 35 points, outscoring the experienced Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong by a single point with the celebrated Mona Myles-Lamptey clinching third spot on 32 points. For her prize, Dick went home with a trophy, ipad as well as free fibre broadband for three months from the MTN sponsors whilst the other winners also received a trophy, phone and MTN souvenirs.

In other categories, men group B was won by a distance by Benigno Mimis with 42 points, runner-up was Maxwell Prah who finished a mammoth 5 points behind the victorious Mimis on 37 points. Alfred Baku completed the podium in third place with 35 points.

Ladies group B top honours went to Helen Appah who amassed a total of 36 points to beat all her opponents in the only category which had just one winner.

MTN Senior Manager, Regulatory and Governmental Affairs, Mr. Samuel Koranteng, assured the golfers of MTN’s commitment to promoting and supporting golf even in the years ahead and commended the nearly 100 participants who came from all over the country.

“Golf makes one healthy and it is also an exercise for networking for our highly cherished subscribers,” Mr. Koranteng stated.
