Atletico reject Watford offer for Teye Partey

Thomas's outstanding form this season has not gone unnoticed by Atlético Madrid's backroom staff or any number of other clubs.

Even before his star performances against Rayo and Levante, the club had already received several offers from both La Liga and overseas sides keen to sign the Ghanaian on loan until the end of the season. There have also been several clubs interested in signing the midfielder on a permanent deal.

One of those clubs is Quique Sánchez Flores's Watford. The high-flying Premier League side are on the hunt for a young, physical central midfielder who can bring goals to the team and Thomas appears to tick all their boxes. Unfortunately, Quique has been told in no uncertain terms that his transfer target is not for sale.

Simeone does not want the young Ghanaian to leave in the January transfer window and has told the club's hierarchy to turn down any offers for him. That saw the Madrid side turn down a 6.6 million pound offer - close to 9 million euros - for their young player. Atlético signed him up until 2019 when he was still coming through the club's ranks, thus showing that they expect him, sooner or later, to become a big-name player at the club.
